Seward, Alaska lodges: By now I've spent at least four weeks of my life in Seward, Alaska, and I think it's is a lovely little town. I've seen a few of the Seward lodges that you can rent, and as I thought about the, I thought I'd compile a list of Seward lodges to help other people find what they're looking for.
So, in an effort to share this information, here is a little of Seward, Alaska lodges, including links to Seward lodge websites, phone numbers and map locations.

I've probably spent at least 3-4 weeks of my life in Seward, Alaska, and it is a lovely little fishing town (at least I think it is). I've stayed in several hotels in Seward, including the Best Western, Hotel Seward, Van Gilder, and the Breeze Inn. I'll try to add more comments about these hotels in the future, but for now, I thought I'd just share this list of Seward, Alaska hotel information.

Seward, Alaska house rentals: I've probably spent at least 3-4 weeks of my life in Seward, Alaska, and I think it's a very cutel little fishing town. In fact, my plan is to retire in Seward.
While I've stayed in Seward very often, and now live just up the road in Palmer, Alaska, I haven't stayed in a house rental in Seward yet. That being said, I have compiled a list of house rentals in Seward that I haven't shared out here yet.

While I've stayed in Seward very often, and I may move there this fall, I haven't stayed in a Hostel in Seward yet, but as I was going through my notes, I found that I have compiled a list of Seward Hostels that I haven't shared out here yet.

Seward, Alaska Bed and Breakfasts: As I've mentioned recently, I've probably spent at least 3-4 weeks of my life in Seward, Alaska, and I love this quaint little fishing town.
While I've stayed in Seward very often, and I may move there this fall, I haven't stayed in a Bed and Breakfast in Seward yet, but as I was going through my notes, I found that I have compiled a list of Seward Bed and Breakfasts that I haven't shared out here yet.

Seward, Alaska cabin rentals: Seward, Alaska is a quaint little fishing town in Alaska. The town is less than three hours from Anchorage by car, and most of the drive to Seward is through a national forest. The drive alone is more scenic than many people will see in their entire lives, with mountains, forests, green rivers and lakes, and possible wildlife sightings.

I ran across this photo of two polar bears "dancing" today while walking through a building in Anchorage. That's one of the great things about living in Alaska, you'll often see great photos of wildlife in regular buildings. This photo was hanging in a hospital corridor.

I happened to be at same spot in Anchorage, Alaska twice in a 16-hour period (the 7th floor of a local building), and with a great view of the Chugach Mountains, I thought I'd take a couple of photos of the mountain range.
This first photo was taken in the afternoon on Monday, July 12, probably around 5 or 6pm. :

Just a quick note that we had our first stroke of lightning and thunder in Wasilla last night. I didn't see the lightning, but the funny thing is that there was only one sound of thunder. If you have ever lived in most places in the Lower 48 you're used to a lot of thunder and lightning, but here, one rumble of thunder, and the "storm" is over. :)

As I mentioned earlier this spring, I landed here in Wasilla because it was basically the only place available. When I first moved here I looked at areas like Kenai and Soldotna, but didn't like them much. I love Homer and Seward, but couldn't find a place to live I could afford. I lived in Talkeetna in 2007, and while I still love that little town, I don't know I could live there during the winter. So this spring the choices came down to Anchorage and Wasilla.

Wow, I finally got a chance to drive on the dirt/gravel road portion of Hatcher Pass, and I have to say, even after all the trips I've taken out there before, I was nervous, with the proverbial butterflies in the stomach as I turned the corner and began the steep incline up the dirt road.
Quickly the memories came back: You can't drive this road with your car in "Drive", you need to shift down to first gear, go slow, and take your time. The road is slippery, and the "potholes" are large enough to swallow your car. Huge rocks jut out from the road.

This photo was taken from one of the high points of the Hatcher Pass mountains, looking down at the road in the valley below.

When you drive on the dirt/gravel road portion of Hatcher Pass, you'll be going uphill -- way uphill. As in you better be driving in first gear.

If you make it to the top of the Hatcher Pass dirt/gravel road, one of the prizes is seeing Summit Lake. I'll add many more photos of Summit Lake as time goes on, but as you can see, the water has a beautiful color (emerald?).

The dirt/gravel road portion of Hatcher Pass is very steep, with all sorts of turns and maneuvers.

I like this photo a lot, also. I took it while pulling over to give my car a break on the dirt/gravel portion of Hatcher Pass. It's wonderful to look out, with nobody else around, and just see mountains, and more mountains.

Here's a photo of the beautiful winding road on Hatcher Pass. Beware, if you choose to drive on the dirt and gravel road portion of Hatcher Pass, it's just a little rough, lol.

This is one of my favorite photos from my recent drive along the dirt road portion of Hatcher Pass. I could easily spend hours out there ... and I have, lol.

I see this photo, and it makes me think of a "wall" ... this is a photo of one of the mountain ranges you'll pass as you drive along the gravel road portion of Hatcher Pass.

This is a photo of a beautiful little creek that you'll run across if you drive dirt-road portion of Hatcher Pass. This is one of several outstanding picnic areas along Hatcher Pass.
