Sophia's KafeNeo - a Greek restaurant in Palmer, Alaska
I made my first excursion to Sophia's KafeNeo, a Greek restaurant located in Wasilla, Alaska today, and I came away pleased.
I arrived at Sophia's a little after 2 p.m., and had plenty of time to meet two of the owner's. Today's order was simple -- Gyros -- and was very good, almost exactly like back home in the Chicago, Illinois area. I had some fresh fruit with it, which consisted of a thinly sliced apple topped with cinnamon, and simply put, it was all good.
The interior of Sophia's is very simple, with a little Greek artwork hung from the walls, and also very clean. I didn't look at all the chairs, but I happened to notice that some of them were simple, well-padded folding chairs. A small area was set up for a band, and the owners told me they have live music every Friday night, so I may be back there then.
Sophia's KafeNeo Greek menu items
Sophia's menu has some nice Greek dishes:
- A Breakfast Pita
- Appetizers of Mezethes, Antipasto, and Olive and Feta Plate
- Spanikopita, Turopita, Greek Lemon Chicken Soup
- Mediterranean and Moroccan salads
- Veggie Pita, Gyros, Chicken Pita
- Oven-toasted sandwiches (for those who might not be in the mood for Greek food)
You can also stop in for an espresso, Greek coffee, tea, or "fruit lemonade".
I'll be back soon for their Greek salads, Greek coffee, and possibly their milkshakes, lol, but until then, I can easily recommend Sophias KaeNeo if you're in Wasilla or Palmer Alaska and looking for a Greek restaurant.
Sophia's KafeNeo is located off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, more or less across the street from the AT&T Sports Center. It's a little hard to find, as their sign doesn't stand out on the road, but they're located in the second floor of a light-blue building. The downstairs of the building is occupied by a furniture store (sorry I don't remember their name at the moment).
You can find Sophia's online at MySpace and Facebook. (The Facebook page seems much more up to date.)
